    I have assisted several people with speech writing. I love listening to the stories and taking from that the parts I believe are suitable for delivery by that person, for that specific occasion. Even more so, I love giving people the confidence to deliver.


    By way of example, I helped someone with writing a speech for her friend’s wedding. Not only was the speech deemed near-on “perfect”, but it also enabled that person to relax and enjoy the event, instead of fretting over her duties.

    I have assisted with eulogy and other speech writing. Having someone help with this task can take the pressure off and ensure a succinct speech that captures the true essence of your lost loved one – be that a person or a pet.


    I recently helped to write a eulogy for someone who had lost her father. According to this person, my assistance gave her the courage to read the whole eulogy by herself at her father’s funeral, and to approach the whole day with much more confidence, in celebration of her dad’s life.

    I have undertaken several website projects. The projects I delivered for A.G.Coombs, the CRC for Alertness, Safety and Productivity and Building 4.0 CRC included structure planning, content writing and collation, and design coordination, along with project management services. I wrote the majority of content on these sites, including most case studies on the A.G.Coombs site. I also prepared the client testimonials for sign-off, most of which were approved with no change.


    I've also completed web copy for Empower Battery Co (FAQs), who only changed one word before publishing.

     

    All the websites on which I've worked have been delivered on time and on budget, even when timelines were tight.


    I currently work with a trusted design and web build company to deliver complete website solutions at best cost.

    Magazines and Brochures

    I have helped produce many company magazines, in particular, BE Magazine – A.G.Coombs’ annual magazine. This project incorporated full project management services and included client interviews, compilation of articles and images (including copywriting), and working with the external design and print team to produce an online PDF and printed hard copies. Online and hard copy distribution was also undertaken, including sharing via the company’s social media channels. The magazines were always delivered on time and on budget, and helped to communicate the successes of the company across each year.


    I have also produced a lot of collateral for previous workplaces, including the CRC for Alertness, Safety and Productivity, Monash University, A.G.Coombs, UGL Services, and many more, with all deadlines and budgets met.


    I currently work with a trusted design and mail company to deliver complete design, print and distribution solutions at best cost.

    Media and News Articles

    Over my career, I have written, edited and proofed hundreds of news articles and media releases/pitches for internal and external publications and websites, as well as for journalists and media outlets.


    The most challenging yet most rewarding piece I wrote was for R U Ok? Day, when I was seconded to Monash University as MICCN’s Communications Manager. I interviewed one of the FEAR Clinic’s patients, and produced an article that led to increased awareness for Health Anxiety, as well as a sense of accomplishment for ‘Ella’ who was able to tell her story.     Across my career, I’ve organised stories and interviews for external media including The Age, Herald Sun, ABC Catalyst, The Conversation, and several local and national radio stations.

    Social Media Campaigns

    I have developed social media campaigns myself, and worked with organisations’ social media teams to lend a hand in peak times.


    I recently worked with the Sleep Health Foundation on a social media campaign to relaunch the WorkAlert® website; a website I also helped to structure, and to write.


    The ‘Return to Work Alert’ campaign brought 1.9K users to the site – an increased visitor rate of 414.7%.

    My event management skills have been described as “unparalleled in the industry”. I have planned, managed, organised and successfully delivered many events across my career, ranging from smaller online launches and webinars through to large, in-person international conferences and corporate Christmas parties.


    When working with Monash University, I planned and managed the launch of its BrainPark facility. The event brought together more than 100 leaders from academia, healthcare, industry and the community, and incorporated a VIP tour for a group that included the University’s Vice Chancellor and Dr Amanda Caples, Victoria’s Lead Scientist.


    Whilst with the CRC for Alertness, Safety and Productivity, I organised and ran a ‘Shift Work in Healthcare Summit’, which united key professionals in the healthcare industry to discuss the impact of fatigue and importance of alertness in the sector. As Australia’s Chief Medical Officer at the time, Professor Brendan Murphy was secured as keynote speaker for this event.


    When with FMA Australia, I worked with just one other lady to plan, organise and run a 3-day international conference in Brisbane. I undertook all strategic and logistic activities, and was largely responsible for the success of the event.


    These and other events I have managed all required invitations and printed material, for which I undertook all the copywriting. 

    Tenders and Award Submissions

    I have project managed and written many successful tender responses across my career.


    The tenders on which I’ve worked have been for jobs of various scopes and sizes, ranging in value from a few thousand dollars through to multi-million-dollar contracts.


    With UGL Services, I met extremely tight deadlines and managed several tenders at once. My success rate remained high.


    I have also compiled many award submissions for various organisations, again with a high success rate.


    I wrote the 2019 and 2020 award submissions for Versaux Marine regarding the Australian Defence Industry Awards. The company was awarded the 2019 Sub-contractor of the Year Award, and in 2020 came runner-up that same category, as well as in the SME of the Year Award category.

    Word of mouth is still among the most powerful forms of communication.


    I consider one of my greatest skills to be putting words into other people’s mouths and acquiring sign-off with little or no change! (In the form of client quote and testimonial preparation).


    I have written hundreds of client testimonials and quotes, most of which have indeed been approved by the clients with very little or no change. I take the time to know and understand the person for whom I am drafting the quote or testimonial, using their language and acknowledging what’s important to them, whilst at the same time meeting my own clients’ needs.

    I have edited and proofread several corporate and family history books for author and editor, Marcella Hunter of The Writers Bureau.


    I was an editor and project manager on the A.G.Coombs Corporate History book, which included client liaisons and preparing client testimonials for sign-off.


    It was this project that inspired Marcella to approach me for other proofreading and editing jobs, and one of the reasons I decided to branch out on my own.


    I have been told I have an incredible eye for detail, and pride myself on my strong ability to identify and detect inconsistencies and errors in any written piece.
